Clyde T. Ellis

Clyde Ellis was the vigorous leader of U.S. electric cooperatives from formation of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in 1942 until 1967. As general manager of NRECA, he was the outspoken champion of rural electric co-ops as they developed from backroad services to sophisticated utilities. He led their persistent drive for stability and permanence, and their determined legislative efforts. He was an Arkansas Congressman, and also served in both houses of that state’s legislature.
